Cornerstone 5K Race Results

On April 20th, the Cornerstone 5K race returned home to the Warrington Wellness Center. In spite of the threatening weather, a record-breaking number people participated in the 5K, two-mile health walk and one mile fun run. As you can see Cornerstone had something for every age with the 3 different events, fun was had by all. Proceeds from the race benefit Doylestown Health’s Friends of the Heart Institute.

Steve Gourley won both the overall race and the Masters Male Age-Graded competition. His time of 16:38 was outstanding, especially on the challenging Cornerstone course. His age-graded rating was 82.3%, which is National Class.

Drew Kalbach finished second overall male in 17:25 and Alex Hiznay was third in 17:49.

Melissa Palermo was the women’s champion with a time of 19:59. Stephanie Savastano was close behind in 20:18, with Megan Ciasullo third in 20:28.

In the Male Age-Graded competition, Nathan Hangey was second to Gourley with an 80.1% rating. Terry Permar (78.9%) was third.

Nancy Smith won the Masters Female Age-Graded division with a terrific 86.3% rating, her finishing time was 22:00. She had the highest age-grading of all of the runners. Gert Freas was second (81.0%) and Anabelle Broadbent was third (76.9%).

There were many excellent finishing times, spread out among the age groups.

The up and coming soon to be the top overall finishers, TJ Zwall (age 12) ran 19:16; Matthew Dunn (age 10) ran 21:21; and Katie Bozak (age 13) ran 22:26.

For the over 50s, Kevin Cooke (18:53), Matt Costello (19:19), and Jim Nash (20:09) all approached National Class ratings. Bob Boland (age 63, 20:49) was also right there. Ann Krisher (23:39) and Jana Discala (23:55) both ran at the 75% age-graded level.

The complete results are posted on www.bucks5kseries.com. The Series Standings will be posted after the 4th race. The YMCA Bucks County Strong 5K is the 4th race of the Bucks 5K series. The date is May 11, 2019. The YMCA now includes all of Bucks County, with facilities throughout the county. To celebrate this milestone, Doylestown YMCA will be returning home to their campus, with an exciting finish on the Central Bucks West stadium track.
